Session Description
OPEN RAN WORKSHOP
Tuesday, October 8th, 2024
10:45 AM – 12:15 PM PT
Meeting room: W224
Open Radio Access Network (Open RAN) is rapidly emerging as a transformative force in the telecommunications industry. By promoting interoperability between vendors, Open RAN breaks the traditional reliance on single-vendor solutions. This shift allows network operators to integrate components from various suppliers, fostering innovation and reducing costs.
As the demand for flexible and efficient network infrastructure grows, Open RAN plays a crucial role in enabling the telecommunications industry to meet the needs of an increasingly connected world. Its architecture allows for more efficient deployment of 5G networks, facilitating broader coverage and faster rollouts.
Open RAN enables greater flexibility, innovation, and cost-efficiency by allowing operators to mix and match network components from multiple vendors. In addition, the O-RAN modular approach will allow an agile response to emerging threats and challenges as network security and resiliency become critical.
Hear from Telecom ecosystem experts as they discuss the impact, opportunities, and challenges that Open RAN presents for the industry, including government initiatives and deployment experiences.
