Speaker Bio
John Lin is Senior Counsel for the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, where he advises members on telecommunications, media, and technology policy. He previously worked for the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, advising on the same issues. John was the lead staffer on the bipartisan Broadband DATA Act and also assisted with the enactment of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and legislation securing communications networks, combating illegal robocalls, and providing access to broadband amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
John started his service on Capitol Hill as an Oversight Counsel for the Senate Budget Committee. His legal career began at Wiley Rein LLP, where he was a litigation and regulatory attorney focused on telecommunications and administrative law. Before becoming a lawyer, John served as personal aide and scheduler for Michigan Governor Rick Snyder.
John earned his BA, JD, and MPP from the University of Michigan. He is originally from Bloomfield Hills, MI.
