At the start of his career, Robert learned about the need for private communication networks in the Department of Defense, supporting test and training environments and the use cases that would drive the operation of those networks. Robert started his career as a civil servant supporting Redstone Technical Test Center, designing telemetry kits using custom RF links to support missile and rocket testing for the US Army and US Air Force. He then moved to a large defense contractor and began supporting PEO-STRI, designing, building, and operating large-scale private communication networks, including 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G private cellular systems. Leveraging what he had learned delivering these large-scale networks to the US Army, Robert ventured into the commercial realm, moving to Future Technologies to stand up their private networks practice – providing private 4G and 5G systems to enterprises and industry. Robert and Future Technologies continue to provide guidance and to deliver private communication networks to industry and to the DoD, including networks for: testing and training of DoD systems; command and control of autonomous vehicles, drones, and sensor networks; private voice, text, and data communications; and systems to support remote worker/expert and digital workflows.
Robert has a Master’s in Electrical Engineering and a M.B.A. He and his team at Future Technologies have designed, built, and sustain some of the largest all-private outdoor cellular networks in operation for the DoD. In addition, Robert is currently leading a Proof of Concept for MORAN operation between a public MNO and a private DoD network.
