Michaela Vanderveen, Ph.D. is a Principal 5G security architect at MITRE Corporation. Michaela has over 20 years of wireless communications research and development experience. She has a broad background in cybersecurity, cellular networks, communications systems, and connected vehicles—as well as a history of active participation in standards, including 3GPP, 5GAA, IEEE, ETSI, SAE, and IETF. Michaela led research and standards efforts in her career with telecom vendors and is now leading the MITRE FiGHT™ project on 5G at MITRE, an operator of several federally funded research and development centers.
