Speaker Bio

Dave Roscoe joined ORBCOMM in 2015 through the company’s acquisition of SkyWave Mobile Communications and leads the Satellite Communications and Products group. Dr. Roscoe is responsible for ORBCOMM’s OG2, IDP and OGx satellite networks, as well as the design, development and volume manufacturing of ORBCOMM’s comprehensive IoT device portfolio. He has over 25 years of experience in engineering roles in the high-tech telecommunications sector and research environments, including executive and technical management roles. Prior to ORBCOMM, he held technical and executive positions at SkyWave Mobile Communications during the development of the GlobalWave and IDP satellite networks. He also worked for the Communications Research Center as a senior RF antenna design engineer, developing antennas from low frequency RF ID tags to Ka-band phased array communication antennas. Dr. Roscoe earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering along with a Master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with specializations in antennas and electromagnetics, all from the University of Manitoba. He holds 10 patents, has been a contributor in 56 publications and was a part-time professor at the University of Ottawa.
