Speaker Bio

Zygmunt is a Senior Technical Staff Member in IBM Research, where he is responsible for making the world’s networks Quantum-Safe. (Secure against the threat to security and public key cryptography from a Quantum Computer.)


His research is on migration to Post Quantum Cryptography in telecoms, and on how this can be applied to make other industries Quantum Safe.


Zygmunt is a co-founder of the GSMA Post Quantum Telco Network Task Force (PQTN) and editor for all its reports.


Previously he was Technical Leader for IBM's Telecom Industry. He was responsible for IBM's Telco Network Cloud, Network Edge and 5G Security solutions. He co-lead the design of the first telco edge platform in the world, and co-lead delivery of one of the first telco clouds in Europe. He has also advised on the security of 5G.


Zygmunt’s interest in cryptology began at school when he found a 1978 issue of the IBM System Journal describing the implementation of the Data Encryption Standard.


He has filed over 30 patents. He is a member of IEEE, was educated at Imperial College, has lived in 5 countries and worked in 44 countries.
